Frequently asked questions

A few answers to keep your little learner moving forward.

Common questions

Can we practice our own words?

Yes. In the app’s parent settings, use Custom Lists to manage your child’s words. Use Add Words to add words to a list. Some custom learning features may require Full Access.

How do I access parent settings?

Open Settings in the app and complete the parental gate. This keeps word lists, voice settings, and other parent controls separate from your child’s practice.

What if I can’t hear the words?

Turn up your device’s media volume and check whether sound is playing through connected headphones or a Bluetooth speaker. Check the app’s voice settings, then close and reopen the app if needed.

How do I restore a purchase?

Open the app’s Full Access screen and choose Restore Purchase. Make sure your device is signed in to the Apple Account used for the original purchase and connected to the internet.

Is practice timed?

No. Practice is untimed, so your child can take a moment, listen, and try again at their own pace.

How can I check my child’s progress?

Open the Progress tab to review your child’s learning. If you use more than one learner profile, check that you have selected the right child.

Is My Custom Sight Words available for Android?

An Android version of My Custom Sight Words is currently in development.
